Terms of Use
Terms of Use
Effective date: October 20, 2026 · Last updated: October 20, 2026
Plain-English terms, not legal advice. These terms were written for Hey Mr. Facts and have not yet been reviewed by an attorney.
1. Acceptance
By using heymrfacts.com (the "Site"), operated by Hey Mr. Facts ("we", "us"), or by subscribing or submitting a claim, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
2. Informational only, not advice
Everything on the Site, in our newsletter and on our social accounts is general information, commentary and education about public data. It is not financial, investment, legal, tax, medical or other professional advice, and no professional relationship is created. Do not rely on it for personal decisions; consult a qualified professional.
3. Independent commentary
Hey Mr. Facts is independent. It is not paid for or authorized by any candidate, campaign, political party or committee. We run no ads and no paid political advertising; if that ever changes, required disclaimers will appear.
4. No government affiliation
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for any government agency, including those whose data we chart. Agency names identify sources only; we do not use government seals or logos.
5. Accuracy and corrections
We link the official source for every receipt and double-check every number before publishing. Still, data gets revised, delayed or contains errors, and charts involve choices (date ranges, adjustments) that we disclose. If you spot an error, send it with a source link to [email protected] or message our social accounts. Confirmed errors are corrected in the open, as described in our corrections policy.
6. AI-assisted content
We use AI tools to help produce some content, such as voice, images, video and drafting. Videos made with AI are labeled on each platform. Every number is checked against its source by us before publishing, and we are responsible for what we publish.
7. Public data, government works and fair use
Works of U.S. federal government employees made in their official duties are generally public domain (17 U.S.C. § 105); we still credit the source on every chart. Data from other sources (international organizations, foreign or state agencies) is used under their published terms with attribution. Limited quotations for commentary, criticism and news reporting rely on fair use (17 U.S.C. § 107). The underlying public data stays free for anyone to use.
8. Our content
Unless stated otherwise, the Site's text, chart designs, the Hey Mr. Facts mascot, logo and banner are © 2026 Hey Mr. Facts. You may share our charts with credit and a link to heymrfacts.com or the original post. You may not alter them to change their meaning, remove attribution, present them as your own, or use our name or mascot to suggest we endorse you.
9. Your submissions
When you send us a claim, correction or message, you confirm you have the right to share it and grant us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual license to use, quote, excerpt and publish it (for example, "a reader asked us to check...") in our content. We will never publish your email address or name without your permission. Please don't send confidential or sensitive personal information. We may choose not to review or respond to any submission.
10. Acceptable use
Do not: send spam, malware or automated submissions; try to bypass the captcha or disrupt the Site; scrape the Site in a way that burdens it; submit unlawful, harassing, defamatory or infringing material; impersonate others; or sign up someone else's email address without permission. We may block access or delete submissions that break these rules.
11. Newsletter
The monthly recap is free. You can unsubscribe any time with the link in every email. We may change, pause or end the newsletter, or remove a subscriber who misuses it, at any time.
12. Third-party links
We link to official sources and to our pages on X, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. We do not control those sites; their own terms and privacy policies apply, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.
13. Copyright complaints (DMCA)
If you believe something on the Site infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with: the work you own, the URL of the material, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is unauthorized, a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and you are the owner or authorized to act for them, and your physical or electronic signature. We will review and, where appropriate, remove the material.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site, newsletter and all content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from decisions made based on the Site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site is limited to US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
16. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses and costs (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your misuse of the Site, your submissions or your breach of these terms.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing here removes rights you have under the mandatory consumer laws of where you live.
18. Fonts
Montserrat and Inter are used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1; see OFL-Montserrat.txt and OFL-Inter.txt.
19. Changes and general terms
We may update these terms; the dates above show the current version, and material changes will be noted on the homepage. Continued use after a change means you accept it. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver.
